Grapes on the vineOur Wines

The vineyard has five varieties of vines - Bacchus, Regner, Muller Thurgau, Reichensteiner and Madeleine Angevine. From these we make the following blends depending on the quantities available.

Still Wines

Warden Vineyard 2006
Regner 40 % / Reichensteiner 40% / Bacchus 20%
The blend of grapes gives complexity an attractive mix of fragrant white flowers backed by citrus and richer greengage.
Tasting Notes...
The nose has all the charm of spring blossom, elderflower fragrances overlay citrus and fuller greengage. The palate has layers of flavour, first pear and apple underpinned by fresh lime and enriched by a mix of tropical fruits.

Warden Abbot 2006
Muller Thurgau 60% / Regner 40%
Both Müller Thurgau and Regner produce more weight and this richness comes through on the palate, there is some pink grapefruit refreshing the fleshier greengage.
Tasting Notes...
The nose is very rich;  there are hints of pineapple and tropical fruits backed by grapefruit.  The rich complex mix comes through on the palate;  all feels ripe almost fleshy but it is nicely balanced by some mid freshness. The depth of flavour lasts well on the palate, a wine for the meatier fish or white meats such as chicken.

Warden Vineyard Celebration 2006
Reichensteiner 40% / Regner 60%
To celebrate 20 years of Warden Vineyard we blended Regner (a cross between Luglienca Bianca and Gamay) and Reichensteiner (a cross between Müller Thurgau, Madeleine Angevine and Calabrese Froehlich), the power of the Regner is lightened by the floral charm of Reichensteiner.
Tasting Notes...
Full of fruit on the nose, the peach and greengage are refreshed by apple and lime. Rich creamy flavours with layers of fruit, asparagus and apple, peach and citrus, excitingly complex. Towards the back the freshness pushes through leaving the finish flint crisp.

Muller Thurgau 60% / Regner 40%
Both Müller Thurgau and Regner produce more weight and this richness comes through on the palate, there is some pink grapefruit refreshing the fleshier greengage.
Tasting Notes...
Two grapes that marry well and compliment each other as both have a greengage richness but this is underpinned by the grapefruit and apple freshness lifting and brightening the finish.

Warden Bacchus 2007
Bacchus 100%
An exciting cross between Riesling/Silvaner and Müller Thurgau (also a Riesling Sylvaner cross although new evidence suggests Riesling & Madelaine Royale). Bacchus is a grape that has a character not too dissimilar to Sauvignon Blanc..
Tasting Notes...
The fragrance of spring flowers, hints of nettles, is there in full measure on the nose. It fills out with white peach and tropical fruits refreshed by lime and kiwi fruit. The palate has a lot of fruit, a lovely depth of flavour with, towards the back, lime and apple freshness exerting itself giving an elegant feel to the finish.
